- Consistency across a large cut: a coat or a run of garments needs the colour and handle to match from the first metre to the last, which is surprisingly hard to guarantee.
- Minimums and lead times: the best mills work to sizeable minimum orders and long lead times, so buying well means committing early and confidently.
- Access is earned: first pick of the best runs tends to go to buyers the mills know and trust, not whoever turns up with an order.
