What Is Linen Blend Fabric?

A linen blend weaves linen together with a second fibre. In this range you will find linen blended with cotton, viscose, polyester and nylon, in ratios from linen rich right through to lighter easy care mixes. Linen supplies the breathability, strength and dry natural texture, while the partner fibre softens the hand feel, improves drape and keeps creasing under control. The result behaves better than pure linen on the sewing machine and on the body, without losing the look that makes linen worth sewing.

Blends run from linen rich compositions such as 80% linen with 20% viscose or nylon, through balanced mixes like 60% linen with 40% cotton, to easy care blends with a higher synthetic content. How to Care for Linen Blend Fabric

Prewash before cutting, using the same wash and dry method you intend to use on the finished garment, because natural fibres can shrink a little. After that, a cool hand wash or gentle machine wash is ideal. Wash colours separately, avoid wringing, then tumble dry on a cool setting or line dry in the shade and press with a warm to hot iron.
